Myron R. Brown's diaries, 1863,1867.

This collection contains two original diaries of Myron R. Brown. The first diary is from 1863. The second diary is from Feb. 22, 1867 through Nov. 24, 1868. The second diary follows a cattle drive from the Yakima River Valley, Wash. to British Columbia and then back to Washington.

Myron Robert Brown was born in Toledo, Ohio on Sept. 5, 1846. In 1852 his parents and sister made the journey to Portland, OR where soon after their arrival, Brown's father passed away leaving his mother with 2 small children. They were able to survive and establish themselves in Oregon. In 1870 he married and they had three daughters and a son. After trying his hand at several occupations including cowboy, farmer and carpenter, he entered the Methodist ministry in 1889. His list of appointments...
